Week 15 (Orange)

Sweet, Second Trimester

Our baby is an...
Orange!

I never thought it would happen. I ignored everything everyone said to me about second trimester and all its splendor. I was destined to be one of those women in the online baby forums still hating every moment of pregnancy just weeks before their due date, because there was NO WAY that how lousy I felt could possibly get better. But Hallelujah! It did! I woke up last Wednesday feeling all kinds of good, and then I wore myself out on Saturday with a six-hour Junior League event, followed by a hike through Garden of the Gods and some shopping. I couldn't move by 6 p.m., but that's OK. It was the most I had done in three months, and it was glorious! We even went for a run this week. It was only about a mile and a half, but it was perfect!

I still have trouble eating, but mostly, the nausea has subsided. I am waiting for the Energizer Bunny energy that everyone keeps talking about. No fluttering in my tummy yet either. It's still hard to believe that there is anything in there, but we return to the doctor Wednesday for blood tests and hopefully another confirmation that baby exists. Last trip to the doctor went something like this:

Doctor: "How is everything going?"
Me: "Good, I think."
Doctor: "You think?"
Me: "Yes. I just can't tell the baby's still in there."
Doctor: "Well, where did it go?"

Excellent question, Doc! That's what I would like to know. Some days my belly looks promising ... others it's deflated again.

Welcome back, Sweet Tooth!

My cravings for junk/fast food have pretty much dwindled, and I am finally able to eat vegetables and fruit and other "wholesome" foods. Although I did have to drop in our local bakery for a slice of wedding cake ... and McDonald's for a hot fudge sundae. Uh oh ... there's that sweet tooth! And I have developed a reliance on iced tea, particularly mango iced tea, but any will do in a pinch.

Nesting

We finished painting the baby's room. Actually, Corey finished .... bless his heart. I had every intention of pitching in, but exhaustion got in the way. And our elephant hamper arrived! The room is sparse at the moment, but the room is currently being used as "Corey's room" for all his clothes since mine took up all our closet space. =) It's a girl's prerogative ...

  4. Becca, just found your blog. I totally did the same, comparing the baby to food. I remember when Lily was just a grain of rice! Love the stroller and the hamper, btw!

    Your cousin, Beth
