ABOUT

I am a Southern girl by birth, Irish by blood, a Coloradan by choice and a sinner redeemed by the awesome gift of grace.

I was Raised in the 'burbs of Birmingham, Alabama. After high school, my heart led me to Roanoke, Virginia to attend the all-women's Hollins University. I met my loving and kind-hearted husband in a coffee shop in Roanoke. He fell for me despite my makeup-free, sweatpants, roll-out-of-bed style, and I knew it was love. We married May 24, 2009 on Hollins' campus.

After a brief layover in the coldest place I've ever known - Syracuse, N.Y., I picked up my master's in public relations, and we headed to Colorado, where we live at the base of Pikes Peak Mountain and just a jog away from Garden of the Gods. Here, the sun shines 300 days of the year, the snow never stays too long, the living is wild and free, and the mountains are our playground.

We added Milly, our tri-color King Charles Cavalier, in 2010.

On November 10, 2012, our world changed forever when our daughter Sosie Mackenzie was born. Each day, I thank God that she is mine and I am hers. In April 2015, we will welcome Sosie's baby brother to the world. For now, we're navigating the wonderful world of toddlerhood, in all of its joys and trials.

I am a writer and teacher by nature, thanks to a writer dad and teacher mom. I write for myself because it helps me make sense of the world around me. But I also love to share - sometimes too much - because it helps connect those around me.

As a full-time working mom, I struggle to keep things balanced. But I like keeping things honest and am filled with all-consuming truth that God may not always give us want we want, but He certainly gives us all we need. As parents, we are called to, first and foremost, keep our children safe, and then raise them in the light and truth of the Lord our Savior so that they may continue to serve and love others and do great works all in the name of Jesus Christ.
